Istanbul Walking Tours

Galata Bridge

Most of the major sights of Istanbul can be seen on foot, especially those in the Sultanahmet area of the Old Town and Beyoglu , Taksim , Istiklal Street known also Pera District, Fener and Balat districts along the Golden Horn, Galata neighborhood around the medieval Galata tower built inside the Genoese colony in Constantinople. Other historic places in the old town such as Samatya, Fatih, Eyup and Edirnekapi neighborhoods can also be visited to see less known Byzantine and Ottoman sights.

To combine a few of them you would need transportation but visiting specific neighborhoods can be done on foot and most importantly it would be better to visit them on foot as you would get more information about the neighborhood and immerse yourself in the city.

You can do these walks on your own, book private Istanbul tours or join some regular group walking tours at certain times and dates.

We also suggest you to read through our Istanbul Guide written by locals and updated regularly, as well as check our Istanbul Events page listing festivals, art shows and concerts.

These walks can be combined with Bosphorus cruises with scheduled boats of the municipality or private boats.

You can also visit Kadikoy, Moda and other residential areas to see local marketplaces, bazaars as well. In fact some travelers like visiting places that are modern and beautiful, away from the hustling bustling European side of Istanbul such as such as Caddebostan coast near Bagdat Street where people swim, bike, jog, walk their dogs, where street musicians play their tunes and people simply gather to enjoy the scenery of Prince's Islands afar.

There are also many scenic walks you can do on your own, such Ortakoy Ortakoy Bebek along the European side of Bosphorus. It all depends on how long you will stay in Istanbul as there are too many things to do and see in Istanbul.
